Cycling in Cambridge ‘More Dangerous Than Extreme Sports,’ Claim Family

A family from Cambridge have claimed that cycling in their local area is more dangerous that taking part in extreme sports.

They made the statement after the mother and baby were knocked off a bicycle by a postal van on a busy roundabout near their home.

Husband and farther of the two said: “I have seen three accidents involving cyclists in the last couple of months near the roundabout. I do a lot of dangerous sports but it’s a lot more risky to cycle in Cambridge.”

This isn’t the first time the family have found themselves involved in a cycling accident either. Last year their 7 year-old son was knocked off his bike by a car, and suffered a broken foot.

The family say they are now close to giving up cycling completely.

“We try to cycle and not use the car. But the school run on bikes is like taking your life in your hands every day. It is just getting too much and we are thinking of giving up cycling in Cambridge,” Mr Tunstall added.
