Cycle accident victims benefit from Brain Injury charities

Many of you may not know that this month hosted the  ‘Action for Brain Injury Week’ which lasted from Monday 9th to Sunday 15th of May.

The week was important because it raised issues around ‘Socialising With a Brain Injury’ which can involve anything from lacking energy to socialise, no longer being able to participate in a conversation or joke or people being threatened or treating you differently as a result of a brain injury.

Cyclists are always at risk of a brain injury when they fall off their bikes.  Blunt force trauma to the head can cause lasting brain damage and is not uncommon in cyclists involved in road traffic accidents or who lose control of their bike.

At Thorneycroft Solicitors, we support brain injury charities such as Headway, BIRT and BASIC because we believe the work they do is invaluable when it comes to supporting those victims and their families through a traumatic and devastating period in their lives.

A brain injury can create new life challenges as, for those that survive, there are complications such as personality changes, mood swings, depression and also physical challenges such as speech and language and movement.

A catastrophic injury can be devastating for the victim and their families and we feel it is important to raise awareness, not only to provide the much need support following an accident but also to raise awareness of challenges that people suffering a brain injury face to encourage understanding of their condition, acceptance and integration back into society.  So if you want to get involved and support some amazing charities then here are some useful links:
