A courier from Wales has been knocked off his bike in an accident involving a Ford people carrier.

Police were already on the scene to help deal with the cycling accident, as they were attending a funeral on the same street at the time.

The employer of the courier, who was delivering parcels and documents using his bike, said he was not seriously injured in the accident.

One eyewitness, who wishes to remain anonymous, said, “Luckily the police officers attending the funeral were nearby and jumped into action.

“The cyclist looked disoriented and had a bit of a bloody face, but within a matter of minutes a first response vehicle came and took over.

“The force of the impact with the car must have been substantial given the noise and the shattering of glass – I’m just glad he was wearing a helmet.”

The rider is now said to be recovering from minor injuries at home.
