Teenager Inspired to Raise Money after Dad is in Cycling Accident

A teenager from Staffordshire whose dad was left paralysed after a serious cycling accident has helped raise over £1700 for a spinal injuries charity.

The eighteen year old boy teamed up with his fellow classmates to host a range of fundraising activities.

The eighteen year old boy teamed up with his fellow classmates to host a range of fundraising activities.

The money which they raised will now be used by the Spinal Research charity to explore groundbreaking new treatments to help victims with their life-changing injuries.

The charity work could even help the teenager’s own farther who is still recovering from his accident.

“My dad was rounding a corner and came off the bike and went over a wall. He broke his back and was paralysed from the waist down,” he explained.

“The other riders saw the bike had been crushed and then saw my dad. They called for an air ambulance.”

This farther faced years of rehabilitation and now uses a wheelchair, however he still leads and active life and has already returned to work at his pharmacy in Uttoxeter.

The teenager handed over a £1,722.50 cheque to the charity this week.

“It feels good to have raised all that money. We have raised more than any group at the college before. I decided to pick Spinal Research because it is a cause close to me, with my dad’s cycling accident.”
