A Scottish cyclist has suffered a fractured skull, a broken collar bone and a broken leg after an accident with a car.

The incident happened just outside Dunfermline.

Eye witnesses have been reported as seeing the rider, who wasn’t wearing a helmet, flying through the air after he was hit by the vehicle.

Those nearby called an ambulance and comforted the driver of the Ford Focus who was involved in the accident.

“The man on the bike was going at quite a speed. He came off the pavement and was hit by the car. He flew really quite high into the air and came down with a thump on his head.”

Police are currently investigating the cause.
