Matt - LondonHome » New bike light creates personal cycling lane wherever you go
October 29th, 2012
Ever wished that you had a dedicated cycle lane for the entirety of your ride? A new light that has been developed in America can provide you with just that.
The innovative lighting solution projects two laser beams on to the road behind you when you are riding, creating a personal bike lane wherever you go. You can tailor the width from around two feet wide to four feet wide depending on how you set up the unit and the light also has a flashing option.

It is hoped that the light will help motorists to be more aware of cyclists when they are riding along the sides of busy roads.
The XFire BikeLane has a maximum power of five milliwatts which is roughly the same as a standard laser pen.
Designer Alex Choi said the invention was designed off the back of his own experiences cycling around Los Angeles where he lives.
“I commute by bike to work most days, and safety is a serious issue here. You hear about at least one accident every day, and the city has recently passed a law making it mandatory for drivers to give cyclists at least three feet of space.”
