Cyclists who cause death or injury by dangerous riding could soon be charged under a new road traffic offense.

Introduced by Conservative MP Andrea Leadsom, the bill will create a new offense for causing death or injury by dangerous cycling.

“I have received literally hundreds of emails and letters from people across the country and outside this country, complaining about accidents caused by cyclists on pavements to children, to elderly people and so on,” said Leadsom.

The backbench bill look likely to come in to force after an increase in support over recent weeks.
