Mark Cavendish Made MBE at Palace

Mark Cavendish has joined his fellow gold-medal winning team mates in being made an MBE.

The Queen presented the award to the cyclist who took the honor for his “services to British cycling.”

“All the guys from Beijing got them in 2008 so I’ve waited quite a bit longer – it was really nice,” he joked after the event.

He also commented on his conversation with the Queen: “She said I must have put in a lot of hard work to get where I am.

“We were talking about the Olympics and finishing on the Mall outside Buckingham Palace next year – I told her to give me a cheer when we come past.”
