The car related news portal made what it thought was a useful post for both cyclists and motorists alike, however they soon discovered it would spark intense debate.

The post titled, “What drivers can do to be more cyclist aware,” received over 1000 shares on Twitter, more than 1000 likes on Facebook and almost 100 comments all from readers ready to voice their opinions.

Despite the article favoring cyclists, many still flocked to voice their opinions on motorists.

One comment read. “If a driver commuted a reasonable distance, by bike,  to work, for just ONE week, they’d see just how vulnerable cyclists are, and how poorly most drivers operate their vehicles. “

Other less disgruntled cyclists visited and posted praise: “Nice to see a site for cars bringing this up,” commented GearThree.

Cycling safety has been brutally highlighted this week after two deaths in three weeks on the roads of London.
