Emergency services, including Police and paramedic crews, were called to the scene of an accident at approximately 11pm when they received 999 calls about a collision between two vehicles. The collision involved a red Honda 125cc motorcycle and a bicycle thought to be a Carerra Vengeance and it happened on a busy southbound carriageway.
Both riders were dismounted from their bikes on impact with the cyclist sustaining the more serious injuries. The cyclist is believed to be a 59 year old male and, after initial assessment from paramedics, he was taken to the nearest trauma unit with a serious head injury.
The motorcyclist, a 28 year old male, sustained a minor leg injury and Police are appealing for witnesses to the road traffic collision and events leading up to the road accident to come forward.
A Police spokesperson said: “We would like to hear from anybody who may have witnessed this incident, or anyone who saw the motorcycle or pedal cycle near the collision area around 11pm last night.”
The roads were temporarily closed whilst accident investigators assessed the crash site.
