A male cyclist, thought to be in his 50s, was knocked off his bike after a collision with a car at a roundabout in South Woodford yesterday morning.
The cyclist was treated by the ambulance service and taken to the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel with life threatening injuries.
The driver stopped at the scene and has been arrested on suspicion of careless driving.
This is second incident in so many days after a 52-year-old cyclist was killed in a crash in Woodford Green on Sunday.
Local residents are hoping to conduct a candlelight vigil outside Redbridge Town Hall in order to highlight safety concerns and persuade the council to impose a borough-wide 20mph speed limit.
