A new 6,000 capacity cycle centre, Lee Valley Velo Park, has reopened and will be hosting events and activities for riders, of all abilities, to come and try out their facilities.
Having already taken hundreds of bookings, the park is expected to be extremely popular because it offers all four disciplines in one place ie track, mountain bike, road and BMX.
The Olympic cycle centre will do discounted sessions for schools and some cycling clubs and also plans to offer schemes for toddlers, over- 50s and also cycling proficiency programmes such as Bikeability. Cyclists can pay for coached sessions(starting from £4) but if you want to take part in the track league then you will need advanced training sessions and have passed a four-stage accreditation system.
In homage to the Team GBs cycling domination during the Olympics, the first event to take place on the 42-degree banking indoor track will include double Olympic champions, Laura Trott and Jason Kenny for a two-day Revolution event followed by the Sport Relief Cycle.
Facilities on offer at Lee Valley VeloPark include a BMX track where there will be taster sessions on how to “pump” over the course’s 29 bumps, three mountain bike trails of varying degrees of difficulty and a one-mile floodlit road track through Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
One of the Ambassadors for the venue, Laura Trott, said: “It’s great to see Lee Valley VeloPark open and I’m so proud to be a part of this inspirational venue as an ambassador.”
