A physiotherapist from Pewsey, near Bristol has been told she was lucky to escape a cycling accident without serious injury.

Ms Simmons was riding home from work when her almost £1000 bike got lodged under a 4×4’s front bumper.

Luckily the 41-year-old was wearing a safety helmet and escaped with only minor injuries, however her bicycle was a complete write-off.

“I heard a screech of brakes behind me, which I knew was not good.

“I aimed for the grass verge and the next thing I knew I was flying across the verge.

“My bike was caught by the front bumper and it drove over it”

Two women drivers who saw the accident happen stopped and helped.

The vehicle, which is described as a dark 4×4 failed to stop at the scene.

“I was really shocked and angry and saddened that they did not stop,” said Ms Simmons

“For all they knew, I could have been left bleeding and lying in the road.

“They did not have a conscience, they did not care.”

Local Police are now investigating the incident.
