New plans being introduced in Hatfield Town Centre, Hereford will punish those failing to comply with the ‘no cycling’ rule.
Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, Hertfordshire County Council and Hertfordshire Police have announced that they are cracking down on those breaking the rules after various incidents involving pedestrains in no-cycle zones.
A spokesperson from Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council said: “It is essential that the no cycling zones are enforced in the town centre and that people take the restriction seriously.”
Hopefully the new larger and more visible signs will be adhered to and help to educate cyclists so that they are more aware of the law. Not complying with the signs is enforceable by the Police.”
Cyclists caught ignoring the laws will be issued with a £30 fixed penalty notice.
