Hit and run driver injures cyclist

Police are looking for a driver of a VW Polo who, it is thought, failed to stop after dismounting a 52 year old cyclist.

The accident happened in the early hours, at around 6.20am.  A black car hit the cyclist at a busy junction and then drove off.  It may be possible that the driver does not realise they have hit anybody but police are appealing for the driver or witnesses to come forward with their version of events leading to the accident.

Emergency services, including Police and an ambulance, arrived promptly and tended to the cyclist at the roadside.  They gave him pain relief for a broken collarbone and transported him to the local Hospital for further treatment.
