Home » Cyclist injured in hit and run
June 29th, 2016
Sadly many drivers are not even aware they have hit a cyclist or forced them off the road. Often accidents will happen as a result of a drivers actions and because of the speed they were doing, they don’t hear or see anything and drive off unaware of the carnage they leave behind.
Police were called at around 8.45pm in the evening when a 59 year old cyclist was injured after colliding with a red car. Witnesses stopped to tend to the cyclist after the accident but the driver of the car drove off. It is not known at this stage whether it was intentionally.
Police are appealing for further witnesses of the accident to come forward and help identify the driver.
The cyclist was taken to hospital for treatment but his injuries are not thought to be serious.
A Police spokesperson said: “We would like to trace anybody who can provide some information about this incident, which left a man requiring hospital treatment.
“An investigation is underway to establish what may have happened and we would welcome any information that can assist with this.
“Similarly, if you have any information about who may have been driving the red car which we believe was involved we would also urge you to get in touch.”
