Cyclist airlifted to hospital after collision with Land Rover

A 56 year old, male cyclist was airlifted to hospital after being involved in a collision with a Land Rover at about 9.55 am in the morning. The accident happened on a rural road and emergency services responded promptly to the scene to assess the cyclists injuries.

The Ambulance crews called for an air ambulance due to the seriousness of the cyclists back injuries and also the time it would take to get the man to hospital.

The 36-year-old driver of the Land Rover was not hurt and Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident.

The road was closed for a few hours to allow police to carry out accident investigations .
