A leading retailer has been forced to apologise after shoddy repairs to a bicycle caused a woman to crash into a van.
The woman had taken her bike to Halfords twice to be repaired, but after the crash she insists that it was caused by a bad repair job.
The 49-year-old suffered cuts to her legs and arms and was left with pains for several months after the accident.
The cycling accident is believed to have been triggered when a jammed gear suddenly dropped and consequently send the cyclist flying through the air.
“It took skin off my left leg and I was shocked and upset.
“It was where the McDonald’s is, I hobbled over and my husband came to pick me up.
“The first few months (after the crash) I was a bit nervous about going back on the bike again and my leg was painful.”
A representative from Halfords said “Our sincere apologises to Mrs Percival.
“On this occasion we let her down.”
