Cycling campaigners are demanding a redesign of the Bow Roundabout in London after two fatal cycling accidents in less than three weeks.
Pressure is being mounted on Major of London Boris Johnson to immediately redesign the junction, after a 34 year old Ukrainian woman and a 58 year old consultant both lost their lives.
Campaigners from London Cycling Campaign are said to be furious at Transport for London’s, “refusal to address the danger.”
A spokesperson added: “When we saw the woefully inadequate design for the Superhighway in February, we wrote to senior Transport for London management to warn them expressly that this roundabout posed a continued and real danger.
“We are appalled at this latest, preventable death and are fearful of what may happen when large numbers of cyclists have to tackle this junction on their way to and from the Olympics.”
Cyclists from across london are now calling for complete separation between cyclists and motorists at the most dangerous junctions.
