Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were called to the scene of an accident where a cyclist had been in a collision with a stationary van.
The cyclist, a man in his 30s, is believed to have collided with a stationary vehicle adjacent to a Boris bike docking station in central London.
Police and ambulances attended the scene where the man received roadside treatment and was taken via air ambulance to the major trauma unit at King’s College Hospital.
A Met Spokesperson confirmed that the cyclist had suffered ‘life changing’ injuries as a result of the crash. An Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called to reports of a collision between a van and a cyclist. The patient suffered a head injury. He was treated and stabilised before being taking to hospital.”
