Despite the impressive selection candidates, Wiggins is expected to be the most high-profile recipient after scooping BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2012 on Sunday.

Bradley agreed it was the perfect ending to the year.

“Yeah, it is. There’s only the knighthood to come, isn’t there, really?”

British cycling has enjoyed a successful year headed up by Wiggins who took a gold at the Olympic games and won the 2012 Tour de France title in impressive style.
