Bradley Wiggins claims prestigious Velo d’Or award

British rider and Tour de France champion Bradley Wiggins has been awarded the prestigeous Velo d’Or award as the best rider of 2012. 

Wiggins beat off competition from Paris-Roubaix and Tour of Flanders winner Tom Boonen to take the title, in what has been an impressive year for British cycling. 

In addition to the Tour de France, Wiggins also scooped the Paris-Nice race, the Tour de Romandie, Criterium du Dauphine and the Olympic time trials titles, which took place in London this year.
